What is Ukiyo-e?

Ukiyo-e is a unique art form from the Edo period in Japan, usually woodblock prints or paintings, depicting urban life, landscapes, drama scenes, and paintings of beauties. This art form reflects the concept of "floating world", that is, "life is like a dream, prosperity is like smoke", and life is about enjoying life in time, pursuing inner balance and transcendence.
